Went to the doctor yesterday. See, I have trouble breathing....when I'm not doing anything. Running, teaching, etc.? No problem. When I sit on the couch, though, my breathing goes shallow. Weird and frustrating at the same time. After a litany of tests, this pulminologist suggests that, since I'm able to run without any breathing problems, my condition is probably stress related and asks me if I do yoga. I tell him that I don't and that he recommends either taking a class or getting a DVD. The class is logistically not an option, but if anyone knows of a good "Yoga for Dummies" DVD, post it in the comments.
On to this weeks STIFFY:
This week, you get 2 for the price of one! That's right, I figure since I purposely missed last week, I'd hit you up with two this week.
And I thought Jared was annoying:
We're going in the way back machine on this one, kids. My daughter was dancing to this at daycare yesterday, complete with all the disco moves:
Have a great weekend!

Where do I get a pair of those white oompa loompa pants that only have material down the outside? Them babies is sweeeeet!
Oh, and this is the weirdest thing. I, too, have been having the same breathing thing you're describing. Running - breathe fine. Trying to got to sleep at night or sitting on the couch, practically gasping for air. I haven't gone to the dr, but I'm chalking mine up to springtime allergies. I'm taking an OTC allergy medicine and that's seemed to help a bit. I'm going to see if it gets better in the next week or so, then maybe see the doc if it persists.
Sounds like an easy solution: don't stop running and teaching. That'll be $25. (Someone had to say it)
yeah, my wife said pretty much the same thing:
"If you have problems breathing when you're not doing anything, I can always FIND something for you to do."
Argh! The Subway song! It freaks me out even!
Urrrggghhh I hate the Subway commercial. Bring on the Hustle!! LOL
I don't know what was worse in that second video, the song or the video.
I have Yoga for Inflexible People. It's okay, for yoga. Beware Rodney Yee's "beginner's" yoga. It almost killed me.
Um. Razdoodle. The hustle made me want a tequila shooter.
I think we actually liked to dance like that. Scary.
There are tons of yoga podcasts on iTunes. I like 90 Minutes of Yoga with Wade (not beginner, though) and Hillary's Yoga Practice (more mind, less body - but not exactly beginner either).
For beginners the Discovery Home and Health gets good reviews but I've never tried it.
All these are free (I'm cheap). I'd recommend at least a few classes to orient you to the names of the poses and help you do the alignment safely. At the very least you should get some video classes so you can see it done properly.
Does your cable channel have yoga classes OnDemand? These are usually free and on the easier scale of things.
