YouTube access would be nice seeing as though I teach video production. YouTube has pretty much made my DVD/VHS library obsolete. Thank god for hulu.com
So a big, sarcastic "thank you" to the powers-that-be on that front.
As I tell my students, "Find another way." It's either that, or "Go Fetch Me More Coffee, Freshman! Now! Move! MOVE!" Ahh, I love the first day.
I digress. Skipping morning runs has been a little too easy for me to do this week. Apparently, the little RazZDoodles are shaking off the effects of that shot of Jack Daniels before bed. That can only mean 2 things:
1) something is wrong
2) their tolerance is up.
Last night, both kids were up for some reason and, being great parents that we are, I stayed in our bed while my wife played zone defense. That worked great until she had our 4 year old come into our room and wake me up. Ugh.
I've gotten 2 runs in this week. One was after school, another was shortened from a planned 5 miler to a 2 miler and then there will be one today after school. Life happens, huh? I really hope that after this week, I can get myself back to a "I actually have to go to work and earn a paycheck" routine. *shiver*
At least I get to christen a new pair of kicks tonight. runningwarehouse.com (not a shameless plug, but I'm willing to say very nice things about their site. *wink, wink* *nudge nudge*) had my shoes for a smokin' deal (*wink, wink* *nudge nudge*) , so I received 2 early birthday gifts. Big thanks to Parents RazZDoodle for those!
That's about it for now. This anti-blogger.com stance has me being more productive and attentive to my students' needs. *another shiver*
Hopefully, this will be rectified soon.

You must be reading my mail. No Youtube, blogger, wordpress, etc. No, you must get these kids to the information age with a textbook.
Standards, my ass.
At a faculty meeting I was at, a fellow professor (different department) said that she thought students should have a place to go on campus where they weren't allowed any electronics whatsoever so they could study. And someone else commented: "But half their study materials are online." Too true. In higher ed, at least, we're always emphasizing the importance of incorporating technology in the classroom, and then we want to yank it out from under them the moment they use it in ways we don't want them too.
But aside from that small rant, you crack me up! I need my students to fetch me coffee, and when the day comes, I am so using the Razzdoodle approach to parenting: A shot whisky can't hurt a young child's liver!
Crickey! Your school expects you to deal with unruly kids for hours on end on a daily basis and not have an outlet? They're crazy.
Good luck with that.
wow-you've started school already? My kids don't start until September! and hey, at least they let you have coffee at your school-I've heard of CAFFEINE free districts-teachers included! What are they thinking?!
I must say that I must have it good. We had blogger blocked at my school (where I am the principal), but I had our tech guy unblock it. We are asking all of our teachers to create blogs and link them to our school blog (which I update daily) so that parents and student can be more informed. I am also hoping that some of our "more experienced" teachers will become more "experienced" with technology. It does not hurt that I am going to pay those who create and update a blog for our school.
Technology is such a huge tool in learning...blows my mind that some people are still a little slow to pick up on that
Our office blocked some blogging sites last week, too. Must have been like a rash or something. I asked about it and they said they had no work-related value. I decided not to fight it but to look for a way around it (Google Reader and Google Gears was going to do it for me). But, the next day, they notified me that they opened them back up.
