Remember when I said that ROATM was going to be more about running? Yeah, I don't pay that much attention either. I suppose me flipping off my laptop camera is going to be as varied as it gets. With story deadlines looming, though, I'm bound to either snap or write about it.
With KidDoodle 1 being sick today, I find myself with about 6 tabs open in Firefox....most of them dealing with running. Before you question my parenting skills, she's watching Dinner Impossible: Sesame Street. She's content, so leave me alone.
Anywho, I still have that personal asterisk floating around my one and only marathon. I think, I THINK that it's time for redemption. According to McMillan's running calculator (thanks B.o.B. for adding another tab), I could run a marathon in 3:49:24 and a half marathon in 1:48:46.
Well, that would be impressive, wouldn't it?
The Lincoln Marathon would be the race for me to do it, too. It's a flat, fast course and it's a well-run race. In fact, it's one of the best race experiences I've had. The drawback to all of this is training in the winter. 'Round here, that sort of thing s-u-c-k-s. Ice, wind, cold rain, etc. equals a few treadmill training runs. Ugh.
So there I have it. Lincoln Marathon. It's out there. It's a possibility. I just need to move back to Phoenix to do my training.
P.S. - I want to thank everyone for sharing in my pain in yesterday's post. My administrators are looking into it. Thanks. So. Much.

Did you learn nothing when you ran my marathon in AZ? Training in the winter SUCKS. Find a fall race in a cool location and train in the summer.
I'll take the nasty cold weather over 90+ degrees any day. Bonus - when you carry a handheld bottle full of Gatorade, it turns into Gatorade slush...yum. Oh wait, that's right...it's 'G' now. G for Gay marketing strategy. Still good. Besides, doesn't your kind burn in the summer heat anyway?
You're such a whinger. My marathon is at the end of March so I'm dealing with the same scenario plus I'll have to endure three weeks of training while I'm visiting family in NH. Freaking cold, snow up to my eyeballs AND a lotta hills. Take that, you wussy Husker.
There, was that encouraging enough for you?
Sign up now. Do not delay. Push through the pain.
What is this winter business you speak of?
Why not sign up for rock and roll AZ again! I'm coming off of 9 weeks of rest and will get in a solid 10 weeks of marathon training so we could share in the shit storm that the marathon is going to be.
Shit, I might even let you stay at my place...Maybe the room w/ the Iowa State sheets.
I have a friend that lives where I grew up in NW Iowa and she trained for the Fargo marathon doing NOTHING but treadmill runs - including her 20 miler. So, there is that option I suppose.
Woo hoo! Look at those stats... let's see what you're made of RazZ!!! Lincoln here he comes...
I'm extremely pissed at the McMillan running calculator right now, so I can't even focus on your issues today. (It had me at a 1:44 HM and well, we all know how awesome that attempt went.)
I vote you do it though. They give you roses at the end and everything.
Looks to me like the commenters are throwing down the gauntlet? Are you regretting this post yet?
Sorry I have not had time to read lately, but SCHOOL has taken over my life once again...oh the life of a HS Principal...but, anyway, love the new blog theme....and I love the projected marathon / half-marathon times for me....boy if it were only so easy to actually run as fast as these projections say I could...love the posts...keep them up.
