Ahem.....

I've never been very good at starting a post.  In fact, it's usually the last thing that I write.  For this post, I really didn't know how to start off, so I'll just get to the point:

This will be my last post.

This isn't a "goodbye cruel world" as some have noted in my previous - and embarrassing - attempt to leave the blogosphere.  Not at all.  I thought that when school got out this year, I'd get back on ROATM and assume my responsibilities as Dutiful Running Blogger.  Funny thing happened, though:  I had nothing to write about.  Worse yet?  It didn't bother me a bit.

I want to give a nod to those people off to the left on my blogroll  They are great writers and even better people.  Go read them if you haven't already.

Maybe down the road, I'll come back in some form. For now, I'm going to just go out, run and not be tied to any type of training plan/goal/PR obsession.  It'll be good for me.  I'll still read blogs and throw in a pithy comment hither and yond just to make sure everyone is playing nice and not getting hurt.

I've loved writing this blog.  It's been a great outlet for me.  I've met a lot of fun, unique, inspiring, etc. people along the way. Some, I've even had the honor of meeting in person....an entirely rewarding experience altogether.

An entirely rewarding experience.*
I appreciate you all reading this crazy little blog and I wish all of you the best.

    Where Was I?

I"ve put a bow on the 2009-2010 school year and I'm ready to relax, play with my kids, and honor 10 more days on my extended contract.  10. More. Days.  That's a lot.  I mean, I don't know how you regular people do this whole "go to work throughout the year" thing.

Regardless, I thought I'd get back into this whole blogging phenomenon....with bullets, of course!

    • My half marathon last Sunday sucked.  Really sucked.  I blame it all on the heat.  I knew I was in trouble when I stepped out of my house at 5:30am and it was already steamy.  The only freakin' day it's humid in May and it's race day.  Perfect.  Miles 1 and 2 were fine due to cloud cover.  When the sun started peeking out, though, you could just feel the collective slowing down of all the runners.  At about Mile 8, I knew a PR was not in the realm of possibilities, so I erred on the side of caution and walked a couple of times.  Surprisingly to me, I was only about 7 minutes over what I wanted, so I'll wear that like a badge of honor.
    • What's next?  Right now October's Market to Market Relay is the only thing on the docket.  That is, unless.....
    • ....I run the Omaha Half Marathon in September with some of my students.  During an open period, we were talking about running and getting in shape this summer and 4 of my students think it'd be cool to run a half marathon.  They can all run 3 miles, so at least we're not starting from scratch.  I devised a pseudo-calendar for them COMPLETE WITH MEDICAL DISLCAIMER and they say they're going to stick to it.  Believe it when I see it.
    • My iTunes library really needs to be updated. I used to have really good taste in music.  I really did.
    • I need to find a workout routine to compliment my running.  Like weights or something.  Seriously.  If anyone knows of one...save for 12 oz. curls....let me know.
I think that about covers it.  I can only imagine how excited you all are to hear about how I ran 4 miles the other day.  Or maybe I didn't.  Or how I can do whatever the hell I want because I have no races to train for and I have my summer off.....save for those 10 whole days.
